Something for Everyone on Cozumel!

Though Cozumel is virtually a mecca for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts, there's also plenty to do for land-lovers.

Cozumel is indeed one of the world's top diving destinations, so there's no shortage of dive shops or independent dive operators on the Island. Offered are various diving services including standard 2-tank dive trips, custom charters, afternoon dives and night dives, diving/accommodation packages, and equipment rental. Most operators also offer instructional services from Open Water to advanced levels of certification and specialty courses. Reputable operators will also offer hyperbaric chamber insurance.

If you prefer snorkeling, Cozumel boasts some excellent shallow reefs for gazing at the abundant sea life. Just walk out your hotel door and jump in! Or, the Fury Catamaran will take you on a fun and memorable experience sampling a few different reefs, a stop at the beach for a lunch buffett and banana boat rides. Like boats, but don't want to be in the water? Some operations also offer sunset margarita cruises.

Jet skis can be rented at several beaches including Playa Sol, San Francisco, and Paradisus. Or, view the island and surrounding area from 400'above the water on a para-sailing excursion! Fishing enthusiasts will find a number of deep sea fishing operators offering ½ day and full day charters.

If you don't like in-water sports, don't worry, there's something for you too. There's a multitude of stores to keep any shopper busy for days. You'll find everything from souvenir items like T-shirts and blankets to pottery, paintings, and jewelry of silver, gold and precious stones.

Other land activities include horseback riding, island tours, and exploring the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio. There are also inexpensive excursions to the mainland such as Xel-Ha water park near Cancun or the ancient and mystical Mayan ruins of Tulum, Coba and Chitzen Itza. Tours include bilingual guides, transportation, park entrance fees and some include lunch. Tours can be taken by ferry and bus or by plane.

Just want to relax and enjoy the most peaceful side of paradise? Try a massage and aromatherapy treatment by a licensed, professional massage therapist! Then, rent a car and drive to the east side of the island only a few minutes away. There you'll see miles of beautiful, white, sandy beaches. Though undercurrents can be very strong, there are a few lagoon areas perfect for splashing around in the water. You'll find several small restaurants on the beach where you can get a snack and a cold drink or even eat a whole, fresh, grilled fish. On your way back around the island, be sure to visit the southern lighthouse where you'll see an amazing view of the Caribbean. After your day of relaxation, head back to town for dinner. Cozumel hosts many restaurants offering all types of food from Mexican, Seafood, American and Italian to Vegetarian, Mediterranean, and Continental cuisines.

Cozumel also has lots of fun night life! Any night of the week you're sure to find a party at Carlos and Charlies, Scaramouche Disco, or Joe's Live Reggae Bar. On Sunday experience the real Cozumel by joining locals in the traditional Sunday night Fiesta in the main plaza of town. Stroll the plaza with local families and watch the children frolicking in their special Sunday dress, sample traditional food from vendors, watch the artists at work, or dance to the live music.
