I haven't collected many wall hangings, tapestries or rugs in Mexico, but there is a good selection for those interested in this craft. The Chiapas area is well known for its tapestries and rugs, but they can be found in many other areas too. I have limited wall space and carpeted floors, but if I had tile or wood floors I would look at the large selections of scatter mats and rugs available in Mexico.
This wall hanging was purchased in the Ajijic area, but I do not know where it originated.
It is not a good example of the craft. Many of these are extremely colorful and detailed.
Here is a pattern found on a Mexican rug.
This originated in Chiapas state.
